The word of Core

Most cities are made up of towering metal buildings supported by magically reinforced cables, automotives fueled by steam and magic fill the streets and great monorails travel high above the ground carrying citizens across the city across rails charged by skilled artificers and spell weavers. In the aftermath of the Dængelon war most religion was cast aside, but many who crave their connection with their spirit and nature often join up with cults, such as the Circle of the Three Moons, the Menders, or the Order. There are many deep forests, ruined cities, deep underground caverns and abandoned Archalite mines to explore if facing the challenges of city life and politics aren't your thing. Along with current events, there is a deep and interesting history to explore.
The currency of core is dollars ($) (for sake of simplicity), and for the most part it's people only speak one language (there are many different dialects depending on where your character is from), plus Tonal, a language developed by remnants which consists of different toned beeps and clicks, and there is also the language of the spiritual world called Universal (it is understood by any creature that hears it, but few know how to speak the complex language).
The world of Core is filled with Magi-tech. Using Achalite crystals to fuel machines and to store magical energy many technological wonders are achieved, such as mage cannons, automotives and flying transports. (please consult me on the limits of magi-tech)
History of the planes
Existence as we know it started from the tower, it is the origin of order. Some believe that the tower has stood since the beginning of time. The tower is the origin point of everything, outside of its influence there is nothing but a vast plane of formless matter (usually called the plane of mist). The ephemeral planes that exist between the tower and the plain of mist are held in flux between the tower and the mist. The worlds closest to the tower are the most stable, while the worlds near the fog dissolve and reform constantly. In the beginning of this era there was nothing but the tower and the mist, so say the texts of the Dængelon, but something happened in the tower, something that caused the tower to start to weave the mist into the glass plane and the first Angels and Demons, and that was only the start. That is the story of our existence.
The angels have spent an amount of time that is immeasurable to humans recording and documenting the vast number of ephemeral planes. They record the history, religions, flora, fauna, and birth date of every part of every plane that is stable enough to be of interest (Most planes only support one life bearing planet). The Dængelon libraries contain a wealth of knowledge that is unknown to any species on any plane. It is common for Dængelon to share some of their knowledge with inhabitants of these planes, resulting in many religions about them.
Every plain is connected to each other through what the Dængelon call threads. The threads are veins of pure energy, they are what allows for interplanear travel. The all threads lead to the tower eventually but it takes a massive amount of focus and energy to stay within the stream for any amount of time, even the angels have to make many pit stops before reaching their desired destination.

history of the Order and the Dængelon war:
The Order was a religion that started when the angel Paradise appeared before the people of core. He taught them many things, such as learned magic, the base ten number system, and how to forge metal. The people viewed Paradise as a god, and after he left them to tend to other matters the Order claimed that he would some day return, drawing a mass number of followers. Many members of the Order treated the teachings of Paradise as beyond human improvement and in effect holy, this made science a practice done in backrooms, and in this depression a man named Theo Hart started a secret society devoted to finding the nature of the world, it’s name was Stone Heart.
One hundred years later another angel named Peace made contact with core, she was investigating the deposits of a rare substance ( that only occurs on one out of a thousand planes, and even then in small concentrations) that she called Archalite. The properties of Archalite are quite unique, it is crystalline and can amplify and store magical energy, the Peace did not stay as long as Paradise and left soon after explaining the properties and mining procedures involved with collecting and using Archalite. This discovery triggered a golden era, for both religion and science. Though science still took a back seat to the Order it was the fact that Archalite could be used to drive many forms of machinery that made it impossible for Artificers and scientists to be denied any longer.
This golden era did not last long however. The dimension of core was soon visited by a demon, his name was war. Like Peace he was there to investigate the Archalite deposits. Some miners spotted War, walking through the mines studying the crystal deposits. The miners reported what they saw to the Order. The ranks of the Order stirred, many believed this creature to be the enemy of the angels, with its black skin, black hair, and black wings and believed that they must be destroyed. Over the next hundred years, a few other demons were sighted across Core and hostilities started to rise. Holy warriors and Clerics gathered an army and began to hunt down any demons that they could track down this action was one they regretted. The slaughter of demons brought down the wrath of the Dængelon race. The great Dængelon war raged on for nearly two decades, decimating the human population and destroying the Order’s hold over man and science. The Dængelon have mostly forgiven the human race for their mistakes, and still pass through the world from time to time.
